Ever wonder what’s going on in there?
Your GI tract is home to billions and billions of friend and foe microorganisms as well as essential parts of your immune, endocrine, neurological, and, of course, digestive systems. This is where what you take in from the outside magically transforms into YOU on the inside.
Life is great when your GI tract is perfoming optimally!
But when it’s not … heartburn, bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation or both. Yuck.
There are lots of names/diagnoses for what ails your tummy: Ulcerative Colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, GERD, Crohn’s, SIBO, Dysbiosis, Leaky Gut, etc.
What’s a Matriarch to do?
First, we start with simple skills like making time to actually sit down to eat and thoroughly chewing your food as well as a deep dive into stress management and bolstering your self-care routine
Then we work on what goes in your mouth. Maybe you need to start eating regularly to balance blood sugar, clean up a Standard American Diet (SAD), or just get a lot more veggies onto your plate each day. Maybe you need to experiement with something like a Food Elimination Diet to determine sensitivities to specific food(s).
Next comes the very exciting and often-illuminating GI Map, a DNA-based stool test that assesses overall gastrointestinal health by comprehensive molecular evaluation of the GI microbiome, gut inflammation, and digestive function.
Finally, it’s time to rebuild and the gastrointestinal tract, optimize digestion and absorption of nutrients, and relish in a happier belly.
The best part about this process – besides fewer (or resolved) GI symptoms and perfect poops – is that many people experience head-to-toe symptom improvement: fewer headaches, less brain fog, better mood and energy, skin issues clear up, joint pain or swelling improve, etc. Win!
If you have symptoms of GI dysfunction (and remember it can be anything, head-to-toe), let’s work together to figure out what’s going on in there and get busy!
